Although I really like the home I live in at the moment, every now and then I still struggle getting used to my small bathroom. I've gone from a place where the bathroom was bigger than my childhood bedroom to what might be the smallest I've ever seen. It's so small that sometimes I feel claustrophobic when I am standing in it, and there is hardly any room to move. After showering, you can't dress comfortably and finding room for just a few of my children's bath toys involved quite a lot of rearranging.
For me the worst thing about a small bathroom is that I can't keep much stuff in there, even though it has a large medicine cabinet. It is annoying having to go out into the next room to grab something from the closet that normally would be stored in the bathroom. Forget about more than one of us getting ready in our small bathroom - we end up bumping into each other, often resulting in a few angry words being exchanged.
Having a small bathroom is not the end of the world, you just need to do some creative thinking to make things a bit easier. You have to find unique storage ideas if you want to be able to stay in your bathroom and not go nuts. If you can't find room for your towels and you don't have room for a double towel bar, talk to someone at a home improvement store about your small bathroom problem and they may have some great ideas that you may not have thought of on your own.
Something to remember when you're organizing a small bathroom is that you need to think about the spaces where you might not normally have put anything. Shelves and some imaginative placement can free up a lot of space. While a bathroom with a lot of storage items may not be ideal, it can help save you from going nuts in your small bathroom. When I first moved in I thought I could deal with the bathroom because the rest of the place was great. I quickly learned that this wasn't the case and that I'd have to get creative. If I can do it, you can too! You can find suggestions online or in your local decorating store if you just look around to see what's on offer. I'm forever finding new ideas when I'm out and about, things I would never have imagined by myself.
